To get the most out of Markup Hero, you really need to have both the Chrome Extension and the Desktop App installed because they accommodate different common use cases.

PRO TIP: You'll want our free Chrome Extension and Desktop App to get the most out of Markup Hero. View these helpful videos to learn more about our desktop app for MAC or PC.

  1. The main difference between the two tools is that the Chrome Extension is for creating markups from your browser tabs and the Desktop App is for creating markups from other applications and specific areas on your computer screen
  2. You’ll find that both use cases come up all the time
  3. For example, if you are viewing a long website and want to snap and add annotations throughout the page, you’ll need to use the scrolling screenshot option in the Chrome Extension to do this.
  4. But when you want to snap a very specific area of an email, or document or window on your computer, you’ll want to use the Desktop App to do this.
  5. Sometimes you just want to take a screenshot and paste it somewhere, without adding any markup. The Desktop App is the way you do this. It comes in handy when you need to quickly snap and paste into a messaging program, or a Google Doc for example. Or even into an existing markup as an additional page.
  6. Once you’ve created a new markup with any of these options, you’re ready to start annotating, sharing and collaborating.
